Chapter chat week 2 Term 4 code name Bananas.

Image
27.11.20 This week I have been working on my drawing of the big ben clock in London, for a chapter chat task this week because Eric and Sid fly over the top of the big ben in their truck? In the story this week Eric's Grandmother died in the bombing raid a day ago when Eric when to check on Gertrud the Guerilla at the Zoo that night When the air raid sirens went off because Gertrud, Erics best friend was scared, Then Eric got cort bye the groundskeeper and Gurtrud broke out of her cage and whenever a wild animal escapes from the zoo at night the groundskeeper has to shoot the animal, and then Eric dived in front off the keeper when he was going to shoot the Guerilla and he smacked the gun out of the Groundskeepers hands. Then sid (Eric's uncle) got fired from being a zookeeper because he let Eric into the zoo and then a wild animal escaped from its cage, and now Gertrude is going to be put down......what will happen next in the story. Case closed week 7

Monday, 23 November 2020. Today Miss Taaffe came into Whetu so we could show her our evidence that she stole the chocolates and HDMI cord for crome casting. Miss Taaffe was at school on the day the crime happened dropping off some paperwork. Her fingerprints were on the door, Jar lid, and the Milky way rapper that had been eaten. She weres scrunchies all the time and there was a scrunchie on the ground of the crime scene with blond here stuck to it. After Miss Taaffe dropped off the paperwork at school she went to the petrol station then the hairdressers to get her hair died and cut. On the day of the crime scene, she had a cut on her wrist, There was blood on the ground and on the door at the crime scene. Miss Taaffe loves little chocolates like the milky ways that were spilled on the floor. Then Miss Taaffe confessed and said that it was her that stole the milky ways and the HDMI cord. This was her story she told us.                  ...

Think Like a detective task week 5.

Image
13.11.20 Today I did our think like a detective task. There are two different codes you need to break. The code spells a sentence but instead of it being letter codes it's letter coding. 1# code is: Look carefully to uncover the clues. 2# code is: This is no red Herring. After we finished both of the codes we get to make up our own code for a friend or a class member to figure out. I found this detective task way better than the others that we do for coding because we used letter's not numbers. By Madison

Athletics reflection 2020 week 4

Wednesday, 4th November. Yesterday was Athletics at Ngatea Primary school, we did all our events on the Ngatea domain next to Ngatea Primary school. The event that I found challenging the most was high jump because I was not at school on the days that we practiced high jump, so I struggled with high jump, I have done high jump before at Athletics last year. The event I did the best at was shot put because I have a good through when it comes to shot put. The event I liked doing the most was 100 meters running because I enjoy racing fast girls and it's just so fun. Long jump is something I am not very good at so next year I think I am going to train a bit harder so that I get a better score than this year. In the 200 meter run, I did not go very well because my legs were sore at the end of the day but I gave it my best and ran as fast as I could. I had to verse the 11-year-old girls year 6-7's By Madison.

After she came we got these worksheets that we have to put our fingerprints on, right and left hand. By Madison

2020 Whetu Crime scene (First day back at school)

13/10/2020 Yesterday when I got to school I saw Police tape up around the door to get into whetu's Main door into the Milky Way, I was confused and a bit weird feeling at first then I saw the "broken" glass window on the door with blood running down it and I was feeling a bit uncomfortable until I saw my friends for the first time in like forever. Then the teacher's called us in and everyone looked so confused until the teacher's said what was happening and that someone from this school had broken into our class and stolen all the Milky ways (chocolates) Then we watched a video of the Police Talking about our class and that we need to help them solve this crime, Who was the Staff member who broke into our class. The Scene: Broken glass door with blood on the broken glass. Pink scrunchie on the ground. Mr. Singh's driver's license under the silver trolley. Blood on the floor close to the door. foot prints walking through the scene. Smashed vase on the floor...

The mystery of the Astronaut!

Image
23/09/20 Today I and Haven have finished our Mystery of the Astronaut! It was fun but challenging. The first question was the hardest but out of 1/10, it would be a 4/10 because I found it really easy but Haven didn't know what to do for it. I loved working with Haven we bonded well and we had fun together doing it The culprit is HUGO COOPER age 18, AMERICAN BOY has BLONDE hair. by Madison.M

The mystery of the missing Moji.

Image
23/09/20 This week I have been working with Haven to finish the emoji challenge Mystery. I found it a lot easier than last time but I found it a tiny bit hard at the last one. Me and Haven think the emoji is the emoji with the Halo/Angel emoji. By Madison.M

Chapter Challenge!

Image
This week the whole of Pekapeka had to do Chapter challenge for one of our tasks for the last week of school for term 3. I chose to make Abbey, Ross, and Jimmy playing at the Talent show . The mystery of the stolen cake slice!

18/09/20 This week I have been working on the Mystery of the missing cake slice. I found the last question the hardest because you have to draw down a diagram of what it looks like then u have to follow the arrows but everything I tried didn't fit in the Square. When I have finished the Mystery and the teacher called out the person I got it wrong I got everything right except the last question. I worked by myself for the Mystery. The cake stealer was Hanna Hapiata!

The mystery of the stolen gold medal!

16/09/20 This week I did two literacy Mysteries. This Mystery I did with Hannah  one of my best friends. Click on this link to see me and Hannahs's Literacy mystery working out.  You will see the culprit's name on the slides. I found the trophy part of it challenging. by Madison

Maths Mahi investigation.

Image
11/09/10 This week we pekapeka did our weekly Maths Mahi but we only did the investigation this week. The investigation is a zoo investigation and the other one is an emoji coordinates like last week but a bit different. My favorite one out of the two was the zoo investigation.

Crystal art! for science

Image
10/09/20 Today the Science group made crystal art on black paper so the white crystals would show up so we can see then. We made the crystal solution that we painted with, with Epsom salt / Magnesium sulfate, boiling water / hot water. We had to mix it together in till the Epsom salt was dissolved in the hot water. In my mixture, I added food coloring after I had done some stuff with the normal liquid. The food coloring I used was yellow because I found that yellow works the best for showing up when it drys. The people in my group is Hannah  and Candace,  Candace is absent so it was just me and Hannah to create our two crystal art projects. By Madison

Science (crystals)

Image
09/09/20 For science, we made crystals with Borax and boiling water with food coloring. The color we made our crystal heart was pink/red. It took 1 day for the crystals to form on the pipe cleaner love heart.

Maths Mahi

Image
This week we had to do Maths Mahi. We did subtraction, addition, Ratios & proportions. I found it fun and challenging. The investigation was about coordinates this week.

Zoo inquiry

Image
Zoo inquiry. "Should animals be kept in zoos?" (Yes) I think animals should be kept in zoos because zookeepers look after them and they give them there yearly immunization's at the zoo and the animals are happy, the animals love there life in zoo's because they get whatever they want basically. When I do junior zoo keeper's every year at Auckland zoo I learn about the animal's and what they do to them, they feed the monkey's ice pop's with fruit inside them so the monkeys can use there claws to get the fruit out of them and as well as having a yummy fruit pop the ice actually scratch's down there claws so that they don't scratch the zoo keeper's our get there claws stuck anywhere. By Madison.M

Math's Mahi

Image
20/08/2020 This week for Math's Mahi the animal's group (Which I'm in) did Addition & Subtraction, Multiplication & Division, Proportions & Ratios. The hardest part was Division for me because I find Divison hard and confusing, I was always the time's table type. For the investigation we did ENLARGEMENT.  Enlargement is about making a picture bigger by exactly the same amount. I choose out of the harder one's the cat because I like challenging things. Cross country Reflection 2020

Image
Cross Country Reflection 2020 This year I participated in the NPS Cross Country held at school on the Ngatea Domain.  I ran in the 10-year-old’s age group. I am most proud of keeping on trying when it was hard and I was sweaty and it was hard to breath because it was so hot outside. I think my effort towards our training at school was great because I tried so hard to do 2 or 3 laps every day if I could and at the end of our training I was sweaty and I had the stitch and I just wanted to sit down. It was hard and a little fun on cross country day because it was like a million degree’s outside. I felt like I was in a deep fryer.  It was so hot. At the end of the race I was sweaty and hot and annoyed and it was hard to breath and I  poured water all over myself. I showed the Learning Power of Resilience by keeping going when I could barely breathe and I was tired.

Maths Mahi

7/08/2020 Today Whetu class did a Friday challenge we had to get into our constellation groups for this challenge. Alyssa, Mellisa, Emily, Cody, Gaurav, are in my learning constellation group. Our group chooses to do Micky Mouse's group for our cartoon challenge. I made Mini from Micky mouse for the cartoon challenge. I put heaps of effort into making my creation on google docs. I tried to put heaps of detail in my creation and tried to make the colors similar to the actual picture of Mini I was trying to create. By Madison.M

Maths Mahi week 3

Image
This week we did a new  Maths Mahi challenge with an investigation. It was a tiny bit harder than last week but I liked challenging myself. we did 9 questions and 2 investigations( Line of symmetry). For the investigations, I did a hot air balloon and a flower. It was fun to try and get them right. By Madison.M

Egg Drop Challenge!

Image
Term 3 31/07/20 Today Whetu did the Egg Drop Challenge for our Friday Challenge, Its when you make a creation so your egg doesn't smash when you drop it. My favorite part was watching the egg creation drop of the grandstand and seeing the results. I worked with Jessie Logan and Lily Hammond, I liked working with Jessie because she is really focused when lily is getting something and they are not talking, I liked working with Lily because we're friends and we get work done fast and fun. Our egg smashed when it hit the ground hard because our ballons failed on our egg. It was so disgusting when Lily picked up the smashed egg and it stank.

Maths Mahi.

Image
This week I did Maths Mahi. Maths Mahi is when we have do heaps of maths on slides and then we have an investigation to do also. I find it hard and easy to do Maths Mahi. It challenge's me to my limits some times and after we get to do a fun investigation. BY Madison.M

Matariki Stars

Image
This week PekaPeka did another Matariki task but this time we did all the Matariki stars. The part that was easy was sort of everything. The part that was hard was getting it finished because I have only been at school for Thursday and Friday. My favorite part was coloring in my drawings because I love art.

Matariki Jigsaw

Image
This week I finished my Matariki Jigsaw. I enjoyed clouring in my finished Matariki Jigsaw because I love coloring and designing creations or our assignments.  I liked how we stuck the puzzle pieces together when they were all cloured in and written on because they looked all colourful like a rainbow if you did not stay with a simple patter. This was one of my favorite activities that we had to do because we learned about Matariki and how they remembered the past and celebrated the present and learned about what they ate on Matariki like birds, fish, and heaps more.

Term 2 reflection 2020

My Term 2, 2020 Reflection The new learning activity that I have enjoyed the most this term is Maths Mystery because every week we have different Maths slides and every week we have to challenge ourselves and try and do it. I have also liked having time table rock stars because it has been helping me with maths. I can now answer questions faster. It helps me with the weekly maths challenge  because it helps me with the maths challenge answers.  When it gets hard, I skip that question and go back to it the next day, after I have done time table rock stars, and learned the answers. I can then do it easier and I have confidence in my answer.  Something that has challenged me this term has been Number of the Day. When we do number of the day there are multiplication and division questions and I am not that confident with these. I struggle to do division because I haven't learned all the divisions yet. On time table rock stars there are no divisions so I don't do them t...

Week 11, egg carton challenge.

Image
EGG CARTON CREATION This week for our Whetu Challenge we created something using egg cartons. I created an easter scene with Easter bunnies, a baby bird, and mushrooms with grass. I enjoyed coloring the bunnies and mushrooms in with sharpies, I colored the bunnies gray and white and I colored the mushrooms white and red. The hardest thing was hot gluing the mushrooms together because the small pieces that I had to hot glue were burning me when I had to stick them together, all together I got 2 burns in total but it didn't hurt that much. I had fun when I was coloring and sticking the feathers of the bird on the bird. I found it a tiny bit challenging because I kept burning myself and I was trying not to burn myself. The main thing is I had fun and I was creative and it was a tiny bit of a challenge. At the end of my creation, my creation looked like a nice green field of fresh grass with gray fluffy bunnies running around with big red and white mushrooms and one pretty pin...

Week 11 blog challenge!!!!

This week I did a blog challenge about creating your own classroom and bedroom. I had fun creating this but it took a while to do but that does not matter because I did it and I had fun. My bedroom was beach theme I love surfing things so I put 3 surfboards that are hanged up on the wall and I put a shelf with a sea shell and vase and towels, Then I put a blue ocean color bed that looks pretty comfortable Then I added an amazing view of the waves crashing down on the shore well all the surfers were having fun when the kids and adults are sitting on the beach relaxing or sunbathing in the amazing hot sun when The kids are playing in the sand of in the water splashing around. Then for the classroom, I did what I want a classroom to look like. The classroom has 2 bean bags that are a beautiful blue ocean clour and a wooden Nice table in front of the bean bags and there is also a big flat screen tv that is big and lovely so that all the kids can see it when the teacher is showing of wh...

Whetu Challenge-Paper planes

Image
Whetu Challenge - Paper Planes Today our challenge was to design an accurate paper plane. We were given a draft piece of paper to trial and a good piece to use once we had tested the accuracy of it and when we were done creating on our good paper plane you could color and design your paper plane. Before we started I thought this challenge was going to be fun, exciting, not so challenging. I thought it would not be challenging because I have made a paper plane before and colored it so I tried to do the design I have done on the other paper plane. I designed my paper plane tropical and flower theme because I love tropical countries. The hardest part was Making the good paper plane it was nerve-racking trying to make a perfect paper plane. During our competition time, I managed to get it on the runway but sadly did not get the paper plane in the hanger, I did not get into the finals but that does not matter the thing that matters is that I had fun and enjoyed ...

Synthesis eggs By Madison.M

Image
This week I did synthesis eggs. We got to choose what we wanted to do out of fainting goats, firenado, hickory horned caterpillars.  I choose to do firenado because I have heard of a firenado and I was interested so I choose to do it to learn about them. I enjoyed learning about firenadoes, I learned that firenadoes can lighthouses on fire, I also learned that firenadoes are made out of smoke, air, and fire, when the smoke starts working it picks up the fire and the fire, turns into a firenado. Tennis ball tower challenge week 8.

Image
Tennis Ball Tower Challenge week 8 Today for our Whetu Challenge we worked in a group to build a tower out of newspaper, 2 straws and sellotape. We needed to make our tower strong enough to hold a tennis ball and be able to stand alone (not leaning on anything or needing support). Today I worked with Tayla/Tk and Scarlett I liked working with Tayla because she is nice not bossy and we work together well. I liked working with Scarlett because she's not bossy and we think alike and we go with each others plans. At first we had trouble with actually cutting the straws because we had cardboard straws then the salatape started to get a little bit messy because the seletape stuck to the news paper then the news paper ripped and it did not help that the news paper ripped, the other hard thing was to get the tower to stand up at first but soon after we put more seletape on the tower got more stable and it stood up like it was made out of wood it was amazing. The easiest thin...
